| Term | Definition |
| Laghima | (Sanskrit) One of the eight major powers (siddhis). “The power to decrease the weight of the physical body to that of a feather. We can float in the air with the physical body, thanks to this power.” - The Aquarian Message
“He (the initiate) can make his body as light as cotton or feather. Vayustambhanam is done through this Siddhi. In Jalastambhanam also the power is exercised to a very small degree. The body is rendered light by Plavini Pranayama. The Yogi produces a diminution of his specific gravity by swallowing large draughts of air. The Yogi travels in the sky with the help of this Siddhi. He can travel thousands of miles in a minute.” - Swami Sivananda, Kundalini Yoga |
| Lama | A term used in Tibetan Buddhism. "La" refers to the universal binding cosmic energy that lies at the base of all existence. "Ma" is a universal term for the Divine Mother. A Lama is the one who is there to assist students with love and with compassion, as a reflection or as a vehicle of that love of the Divine Mother, the cosmic mother. |

| Language, Golden | In ancient times, mankind spoke the divine solar language, and all the creatures of the earth, water, air, and fire knelt before mankind in obedience. But, when mankind ate of the forbidden fruit, he forgot the language of the Children of the Fire, and built the Tower of Babel. This tower symbolizes all the languages of the world. Consequently, human beings were left confused amongst themselves with many languages. In ancient times, only the language of Eden was spoken. The Children of the Fire created all things with this sacred Verb. - Igneous Rose |
| Laodicea | When the Kundalini reaches the pineal gland it opens the church of Laodicea. This chakra has 1,000 splendid, sparkling petals. This is the crown that shines like an aura of light upon the head of the Saints. The atom of the Holy Spirit exists in the pineal gland. It is in this church that we attain the white dove of the Holy Spirit; here we fill ourselves with illumination, wisdom and omniscience." - from The Yellow Book The Church of Laodicea exists in the pineal gland. During the time of the Hyperboreans, a virgin with the name of Laodicea existed. She was carrying offerings to Delos, or Delphi, of ancient Greece. - Tarot and Kabbalah Herodotus, in his IV Book, chapter XXXII and XXXIV, comments that the Hyperboreans, who were the ancestors of the Lemurians, were periodically sending their sacred offerings wrapped with fromentun straw to Delos. Such venerated offerings had their sacred itinerary very well marked. Firstly, they were passing into the country of Escita and then after towards the Occident, until the Adriatic Sea. This was a similar route which was followed from the Baltic Sea until the boisterous river Po, then to the Italic Peninsula for the pursuit of amber. The first among the Greeks who received the Hyperborean offerings were the Dodonans. Then, the Hyperboreans were descending from Dodona until the Maliaco Gulf, and after continuing until Euboea and Cariptia. Ancient legends which are lost within the night of the centuries narrate that these very sacred Nordic offerings were continuing their voyage from Cariptia without arriving into Andros. From there, the Catechumen were carrying them to Tenos, and then into Delos. The people of Delos wisely said that the Hyperboreans had the beautiful and innocent custom of sending their sacred, divine offerings in the hands of two enchanting and ineffable virgins. The name of one was Hyperoche and the other Laodicea. The sacred scriptures say that in order to guard these so charming and sublime holy women, five Initiates or Perpheres were accompanying them in their long and dangerous voyage. Nonetheless, everything was in vain because these holy men with the two sublime Sibyls were assassinated on the land of Delos, when they were accomplishing their mission. Many beloved and beautiful nubile maidens of that city, filled with pain, cut their hair and deposited their curly tresses on a spindle found upon a monument built in honor of those sacred victims, who (it was stated) were coming accompanied by the Gods Artemis and Apollo." - from Magic Runes |
| Law | "In Gnosis, we look at ethics, morality, or guidelines for behavior as having two fundamental aspects, or two divisions you could say, and these are the First Law and the Second Law. A law of course is a guideline, a rule - this is the way we usually think of a law, something that somebody decided and opposes on us, but we are not talking about that kind of law. When we talk about the First Law and the Second Law, we are talking about law in the sense of Dharma. Dharma means "truth, law, a fact," something which IS, so when we discuss the Law, the Cosmic Law, we are not describing some rule that a bearded man in heaven decided on and is demanding of those below him; this is not what we mean by Law. What we mean is, as an example, gravity. In this third dimensional world, gravity is a law, it is a truth, it is a fact. So the First Law and the Second Law are exactly like that: they are truths, facts of reality, facts of existence, but according to certain levels." - The Freedom of Discipline |
| Law of Seven | Heptaparaparshinokh: The Law of Seven. This is the fundamental
principle of the organization of everything that is created. Thus we
have seven primary colors, seven primary chakras, seven primary notes,
seven primary planets, etc. |
| Laya | Sanskrit meaning, "point of dissolution" Laya is from the Sanskrit root li, meaning "to dissolve," "to disintegrate," or "to vanish away." “The point of matter where every differentiation has ceased.” - Blavatsky, The Secret Doctrine.
|
| Laya-Center | Sanskrit meaning, "point of dissolution" Laya is from the Sanskrit root li, meaning "to dissolve," "to disintegrate," or "to vanish away." A laya-center is the cosmic point where matter disappears from one dimension and passes to exist into another dimension. A laya center is the core-space through which the Logos applies the karmic law as a cause for any life in any dimension, from higher laya centers of higher parallel universes into the lower laya centers of lower manifested universes. A laya-center could be conceived as a cosmic vortex through which the Logos from superior spheres of consciousness pours down its creative energy into the lowers spheres, thus, animating, inspiring and breathing its own essence or substance into the lower parallel universes. The Logos is the cognizant or mechanical directive force or driving power of many degrees behind any laya center in any universe. Behind the laya-center of any evolving and devolving mechanism of nature stands the intelligence of the Logos. A laya-center is that core of the space where the substance becomes again homogeneous. Therefore, Any given laya-center exists in between parallel universes. Any Logoic Hierarchy, therefore, acts through innumerable number of laya-centers. |
| Laziness | One of the seven capital sins. Must be transmuted into its pure form: diligence or zeal, which is related to Mercury (Raphael). “The atoms of laziness are a serious obstacle for the progress towards the superior worlds.” - The Manual of Practical Magic |
| Leadbeater, C.W. | A writer of Theosophical Occultism famous for such books as The Elementals and The Chakras. |
| Lemurian Root Race | The third Root Race of this terrestrial humanity. "The third Root Race was the Lemurian race, which inhabited Mu, which today is the Pacific Ocean. They perished by fire raining from the sun (volcanoes and earthquakes). This Root Race was governed by the Aztec God Tlaloc. Their reproduction was by means of gemmation. Lemuria was a very extensive continent. The Lemurians who degenerated had, afterwards, faces similar to birds; this is why some savages, when remembering tradition, adorned their heads with feathers." - The Kabbalah of the Mayan Mysteries |
| Leo | (July 23 to August 22) The fifth sign of the zodiac, ruled by the Sun and related to the element of fire. “The natives of Leo are like the lion: kind and courageous. The natives of Leo are mystics and like to command. The natives of Leo suffer a lot. The natives of Leo sometimes suffer accidents to their arms or hands. The natives of Leo are magnanimous and kind. The natives of Leo become irritated and angry easily.” - The Manual of Practical Magic |
| Level of Being | The level of internal development. See the book Revolutionary Psychology. |
| Levi, Eliphas | "The teachings of Eliphas Levi are mixed with something impure. Rudolf Steiner asseverates that Eliphas Levi was twice reincarnated as a priest in a Mexican tribe. This tribe, after having culminated in splendours of wisdom and glory, finally came to enter into decay and witchcraft. So, this soul who later in time was born with the name of Eliphas Levi, nourished himself in that Mexican epoch with that impure knowledge. Thus, this is the only way for us to have a logical explanation of the great errors in which the Abbe Alphonse Louis Constant (Eliphas Levi) falls into. We clarify: We do not want to say that Eliphas Levi is a Black Magician, he is not, he is a Master, but what we affirm is that his books, in spite of having that seal of grandiosity, are mingled with a lot of impure knowledge. This is all." - The Aquarian Message |
| Leviticus 15: 16, 18 |
" And if any man's seed of copulation (semen) flow out from him, then he shall wash all his flesh in water, and be unclean until the even. The woman also with whom the man shall lie with seed of copulation, they shall both bathe themselves in water, and be unclean until the even." |
| Liberation | (Sanksrit moksha or mukti) Freedom for cyclic existence, or karmic conditioning. One is liberated from suffering when the consciousness is extracted from the ego: from desire, karma, attachment, pride, lust, envy, jealousy, fear, gluttony, anger, etc. When the soul is free of all blemish, it is a liberated soul.
"Any attempt at liberation, no matter how great it might be, if it does not take into consideration the necessity of dissolving the ego, it is condemned to failure." - Revolutionary Psychology |
| Libra | (September 23rd to October 23rd) The seventh sign of the zodiac. Ruled by Venus and related to the element air. “The natives of Libra always have their love on the scale and their lives are as unstable as the movements of the pans of the scale. The natives of Libra suffer in love. The natives of Libra have many aptitudes and a great ability to earn their daily bread.”- The Manual of Practical Magic |
| Lilith | 1) "Lilith is the mother of abortions, homosexuality and in general, all kinds of crimes against Nature." - The Perfect Matrimony 2) "Another small moon called Lilith by astronomers also exists. Lilith is the black moon. The souls that have already totally separated themselves from their Monad formed by Atman-Buddhi-Manas, go there." - The Zodiacal Course |
| Lilith & Nahemah | Study the Chapter 23 of Ezekiel in the Bible |
| Limbus | “Limbus Major” is a term used by Paracelsus; it means “primordial matter.” |
| Linga Swayambhu | A phallic symbol that resides inside the Chakra Muladhara; a reference to Shiva. |
| Lingam | Sexual Masculine Organ |
| Lingam Sarira | (Sanskrit; or sukshma-sharira; sukshma: “subtle,” sharira: “body or sheath.”) The vital or ethereal body, related to the fourth dimension. |
| Litelantes |
(1920-1998) The inner name of the spouse of Samael Aun Weor.
“The Guru Litelantes, known on the earth with the profane name of Arnolda de Gomez, taught me about the Jinn State. This Lady-Adept is my priestess-wife and my esoteric collaborator.” - Occult Medicine & Practical Magic |
| Logoic Triangle | The first trinity of sephiroth on the Tree of Life: Kether, Chokmah, and Binah. Ruled by Kether. |
| Logos | (Greek) means Verb or Word. In Greek and Hebrew metaphysics, the
unifying principle of the world. The Logos is the manifested deity of
every nation and people; the outward expression or the effect of the
cause which is ever concealed. (Speech is the "logos" of thought). The
Logos has three aspects, known universally as the Trinity or Trimurti.
The First Logos is the Father, Brahma. The Second Logos is the Son,
Vishnu. The Third Logos is the Holy Spirit, Shiva. One who incarnates
the Logos becomes a Logos. "The Logos is not an individual. The Logos is an army of ineffable beings." - Endocrinology & Criminology |
| Lotus of Gold | The previous cosmic day, the period in which the Lunar humanity was active. See The Revolution of Beelzebub. |
| Lucifer | (Latin: lux, lucis, luce, luci, and lucu: “light”; fer, fero: “to bear, carry, support, lift, hold, take up”; these synthesize as “Bearer of Light”) Before Milton, Lucifer had never been a name of the devil. One of the early Popes of Rome bore that name, and there was even a Christian sect in the fourth century which was called the Luciferians. In Universal Gnosticism, Lucifer is the shadow of the Christ. |
| Luciferian | Of or pertaining to Lucifer; having the power of Lucifer. Lucifer originates the sexual impulse within each one of us. If we control the sexual impulse and transmute the sexual energy, then we acquire the living knowledge of the Holy Spirit. Yet, if we fornicate, we fall under the dominion of the sexual impulse or Lucifer and remain naked (ignorant). Therefore, we must distinguish between Satan and Lucifer. Satan is the devil, black like carbon, the fallen sexual impulse, the fallen Lucifer. Present Humanity is fallen; it has Lucifer converted into the devil because of fornication. Lucifer is the stairs to ascend. Lucifer is the stairs to descend. It all depends on how we use the sexual impulse, Lucifer. |
| Lully, Raymond | (b. 1232) Catalan philosopher, b. Palma, Majorca. Of a wealthy family, he lived in ease until c.1263, when he had a religious experience and was fired with ambition to convert Muslims to Christianity. He studied Arabic language and literature and founded (1276) a college in Majorca for the study of Arabic. In 1292 he went to Tunis and challenged Muslim scholars to public debates. He was forcibly deported but made a second trip to North Africa in 1307 to combat the teachings of Averroës and again was banished. The tradition that he was stoned to death on a third trip that began in 1315 cannot be substantiated. Lull’s chief work—Ars magna [the great art]—was a defense of Christianity against the teachings of Averroës. Lull maintained that philosophy (including science) was not divorced from theology and that every article of faith could be demonstrated perfectly by logic. |
| Luminous Ether | One of the four ethers of the Ethereal Body. The luminous ether is related with the caloric, luminous, perceptive, etc., phenomena. |
| Lumisial | "A place of light." A Gnostic Lumisial is a generator of spiritual energy, a Gnostic school which maintains the ancient initiatic Three Chamber structure. The source of power is the Cosmic Christ, and the means to receive and transform it are within the Second and Third Chambers. "We are therefore working, my dear brethren, to initiate the Era of Aquarius. We are working in order to save what is possible, meaning, those who allow themselves to be saved. This is why it is necessary that we shape our Gnostic Movements and that we organize them each time better; that we establish the Three Chambers. Our Gnostic Movements must have exactly Three Chambers. Each Lumisial must have Three Chambers for the instruction of our students. Our Gnostic Centers receive a name in a very pure language that flows like a river of gold that runs under the thick jungle of the sun; that name is LUMISIALS." - The Final Catastrophe and the Extraterrestrials

| Lust | One of the seven capital sins. Must be transmuted into its pure form: chastity, which is related to Venus (Uriel).
“There are three gates to self-destructive hell: lust, anger, and greed.” - Bhagavad Gita 16.21 “Desire never rests by enjoyment of lusts, as fire surely increases the more butter is offered to it.” - Laws of Manu 2.94 “In the region of Light live the beings who adore each other. In the region of Darkness live the souls who become inebriated with the chalice of lust, and who after getting drunk spill the cup. Those souls are consumed in the fire of their own lust.” - The Perfect Matrimony
“The origin of the sinful “I” lies in lust.” - The Perfect Matrimony
“Lust is sexual desire... Lust can be transmuted into love.” - Endocrinology & Criminology “If we want to dissolve the “I,” we must start by terminating lust. If the water is taken away from the fish of the sea they will die. If the Luciferic Fire is taken away from our “I’s”, these psychological “I’s” will die. We must stop the nourishment from which they live.” - The Initiatic Path in the Arcana of Tarot and Kabbalah “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” - Galatians 5:16
“We must eliminate even the most intimate roots of that which is called lust.” - The Pistis Sophia Unveiled |
