"If we want to resolve problems, we must abstain from expressing our opinion. Every opinion can be debated. We must resolve a problem by meditating upon it. It is necessary to resolve it with the mind and the heart. We must learn to think for ourselves. To repeat like parrots the opinions of others is absurd." - Samael Aun Weor, The Revolution of the Dialectic

There are Internet PDF versions of Pistis Sophia Unveiled available at the usual websites; the home page of this site says that a Thelema edition is in progress.

I've only glanced at this very advanced book. It appears to be an extended commentary - a quotation followed by interpretive remarks. [Edit: I'm certainly no authority; the edition I have (downloaded from the website of an organization that is not in communion with the organization that sponsors this website) has what appears to be a few sentences of what one assumes is the original (in italics) followed by extended commentary in Roman type. Looking at it just now, having been through the gnostickabbalah website, is remarkable - the first commentary now makes more sense...]

I believe the original was written in Coptic. I've stayed away from it because in the first place I don't think I'm ready for it, and in the second place there are myriad opportunities for losing important nuances in the course of translation. Given how late it appeared, one must assume that Samael's translation of the original was prepared in a high degree of meditation.

Some academic theologian might delight in an intralinear comparison of different translations with the original. I think I'll wait for Thelema's edition.

So Samael Aun Weor's "Pistis Sophia Unveiled" is not a commentary of sorts on the ancient writing called "The Pistis Sophia"; but is an actual complete translation of the original?

You have to remember that S.A.W.'s "Book of the Dead", is not an actual translation of the Kemetic "Pert Em Heru" or "Tibetan Book of the Dead"(Bardo Thodol); but that it just contains similiar content. Just like how his "Mystery of the Golden Blossom" is not a translation of the original Taoist writing of the same name(A.K.A. "Secret of the Golden Flower").

I have a copy of PS Unveiled in PDF format that I downloaded from the internet. It is a translation with commentary by Samael.

This volume has 148 Chapters which I believe would be the whole of the work. The PDA file has 356 pages.

The Pistis Sophia Unveiled by Samael Aun Weor consists of the entire Pistis Sophia. It includes chapter by chapter explanations by Samael of the original text.

The Master Samael unveiled 2/3 of the Pistis Sophia before he passed on. He states in the book:

"WE, SAMAEL AUN WEOR, TELL YE, IN THE NAME OF THE FIRST MYSTERY OF PISTIS SOPHIA AND THE SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD, THAT I WILL UNVEIL THE REMAINING PART OF THE GNOSTIC BIBLE IN THE HALF OF THE HALF OF THE TIME."

Yes, sorry if our statement was misleading. Samael Aun Weor only explained 2/3's of the book. The rest is for meditation.

So does Thelema Press' latest release contain the entire Pistis Sophia, with two-thirds of it explained by Samael Aun Weor?

Or is it that The Pistis Sophia Unveiled only contains two-thirds of the original Pistis Sophia?
